“My experiences on Pom have allowed me to meet new people and establish many new friendships that will remain with me as I continue on to college. I discovered more about myself and the kind of person that I want to be by participating in Pom. I look forward to starting this new chapter in my life and using the skills I have acquired from Pom to help me grow into a better person.”

- Excerpt from essay
“Pompon has taught me so many life lessons I would not be able to obtain anywhere else. A major lesson I have learned is the benefit of hard work. I have also been privileged enough to be able to coach a pom team of fifth and sixth graders. I am careful to set a good example for them so I can be a good role model, and I am able to pass on my knowledge of pompon, teamwork, hard work, and leadership.”
Devan D.

“Looking back on the road I’ve traveled, I can really visualize how much pom has really meant to me. Pompon has honestly given me its core values of strength, dedication, courage, and love. Those four simple essentials have made me blossom into a well-rounded individual and leader.”

“I can honestly say that pom has made me a better person, and has a lot to do with who I am today. I feel immense gratitude to my team, my coach, and to those special people who have been role models to me through the years without even knowing it. I now have a very strong work ethic and an intense drive to succeed as a result of my sport.”

- Excerpt from essay
“My own experience on a pompon team has taught me leadership , teamwork, sportsmanship, and most of all it has helped me create myself. Every day that I look at my team I want them to love pompon just as much as I do because I want them to grow and learn just as I have. I have learned life lessons that will stick with me forever.”
Nancy Meadows Memorial Scholarship
Nancy Meadows was a long-time pompon coach, who continued her love for the sport of pompon as an Administrative member of the Mid American Pompon staff. Nancy was a mentor to coaches, campers, and Mid American staff members. After a battle with breast cancer, Nancy passed away in 2006. Nancy’s husband, Dr. Robert Meadows has graciously created the Nancy Meadows Memorial Scholarship in memory of his wife, and her dedication to the sport of pompon. Nancy was a firm believer in sportsmanship and teamwork, and believed that Mid American Pompon’s overnight summer camps were an integral part of the pompon team experience. Several full camp scholarships will be awarded each year. Applications must be submitted by a coach.
